Please follow the steps below to apply for the Raa Middle School Arts Magnet Program for the 2026-2027 school year, and let us know if you have any questions by emailing raaenrollment@leonschools.net

 

Application

 

Part 1:  Apply online through Focus (Parent Portal)

Submit Magnet Program School Choice Application for Raa Middle School by logging into your child's LCS FOCUS Parent Portal account. Click on "My Child", then "School Choice" and choose “Raa Magnet” as your first choice. 

Part 2:  Complete the Raa Magnet Application below: 

Completed Raa Arts Magnet Applications are due by 5:00pm on March 1, 2026 (Date Extended)
Completed School Choice Applications are due by 5:00 pm on March 1, 2026

 

Transfer to Raa Middle school will occur only upon acceptance into the Magnet Program and the approval of the Leon County Schools Reassignment Committee.

  1. Do I need to submit any other documents? i.e. Grades, Attendance, Behavior, etc?
    • Answer: No! As long as you applied through school choice, your additional records will be pulled automatically. 
  2. Will I need to submit a video in addition to my application? 
    • Answer: No! We welcome students of all ability levels! *If you have more than 2 years experience, you will be afforded the opportunity to audition for upper level arts classes once enrolled. 
  3. Do I need to submit reference letters from my teachers? 
    • Answer: No! If there are any questions, we will reach out to your current teachers ourselves!
  4. Do I have to come to a Shadow Day?
    • Answer: No! However, we highly recommend it!

School Choice Frequently Asked Questions

  • No, once approved, you are approved until you are ready to move to the next level (meaning Elementary to Middle or Middle to High).

  • Yes, you may apply for up to 3 schools and you will be able to designate them by priority order

  • Yes, you may make any changes to both saved and submitted applications at any time until the March 1st deadline.

  • Yes

  • Yes, apply under “Sibling Support”. Remember that the sibling must be attending the same school during the same year as the applicant.

  • Once a year during the school choice window (Jan – March 1st) everyone can apply for any school, regardless of the capacity. Schools that receive more applications than available seats will be processed by a lottery.

  • To qualify for Military Preferential Treatment when applying for school choice, as stated in our Leon County School Board Policy as well as Fl. State Statute “Dependent children of active duty military personnel whose move to our district resulted from military orders”. The Military orders must be attached to the school choice application or brought into the school choice office prior to the March 1st deadline.

  • No. You may only apply if you live in Florida.

  • You will receive an email confirmation response upon submitting your application

  • You will need to log in to your parent portal account for the results. Applications won’t begin processing until the March 1st deadline.

  • No. Hardships are for the current school year only.

  • No. Transportation is the parent or guardian’s responsibility unless otherwise stated. (EX. Fairview Middle IB Prep and Rickards High IB)

  • You will be notified in your parent portal account by March 31st .

    1. NO RUSH! It is not first come first serve any longer.
    2. New students who are not enrolled in Leon County will have to be registered (individually) first and then an application will need to be made.
    3. You will be notified on your parents' portal of the outcome of your application.
